Culture

St. Martin's Church in Nortorf is known for its outstanding musical activities. Nortorf Sculpture Park is located in Nortorf City Park, a landscaped park featuring 22 outdoor artworks by 21 sculptors from Schleswig-Holstein who have ties to the region. Admission is free, and the park is open for informal visits. The German Record Museum is accessible.

Geographical Location

The geographical centre of Schleswig-Holstein is located in the Thienbüttel district. This centre is signposted on the road between Nortorf and Brammer and can be reached on foot or by bicycle. The marker consists of a millstone bearing the inscription “The Centre of Schleswig-Holstein”, two heraldic columns and benches.

Things to Do

The Bellerbek Valley is home to an 11-hectare swingolf and football golf facility for individuals, families and groups. The “Trekkingplatz Am Mittelpunkt” is reserved for people travelling by bicycle or on foot; the maximum stay is one night.

An easy 21-kilometre cycling tour starts at Nortorf Market Square. Another 27-kilometre cycle route begins at the Nortorf Tourist Information Office and is rated easy to moderately difficult.

Landscape and Water

The Nortorf region offers cycling and hiking tours, bathing areas, farm cafés and excursion destinations. Westensee Nature Park is considered a landscape with numerous lakes, gently rolling hills, meadows and forests that are used for hiking and cycling. The Eider Ring Canal offers water sports opportunities such as kayaking and canoeing.
