Coast and Landscape
Stein Bay features dunes and a reed belt. Below the cliffs, you can walk along the long sandy beach. Between Stein and Laboe, the cliffs reach a height of 70 metres.
Water
Stein Pier extends into deeper water. Stein’s shallow bay is ideal for learning to windsurf. In Probstei, there are six water sports schools from Laboe to Schönberger Strand.
Culture
The Way of the Stones leads through Stein and presents twelve erratic boulders typical of northern Germany. Along the coast in Stein and Wendtorf, the Coastal Culture Educational Trail explains life on the Baltic Sea with seven digital information panels. The Søgård fish snack bar in the village centre of Stein is open seasonally.
Orientation
The tourist information office in Stein provides visitor information; outside opening hours, an information kiosk is available. Stein beach is accessible without barriers. West of Tatort Hawaii on the cliffs is a designated dog beach. Behind Gut Salzig, near the playground and Tatort Hawaii, there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Direct bus connections run from Stein to Schönberg and Laboe. Bus 100 or 102 provides a direct connection from Kiel Central Station to Stein.
