Schönberger Strand: Beach, Pier and Museum Railway

The Schönberger Strand Museum Railway Station

The museum railway between Schönberger Strand and Schönberg (Holstein) is the extension, opened on 18 June 1914, of the Kiel–Schönberg narrow-gauge railway, which had already been in operation since 1897. The Schönberger Strand museum railway station building was constructed in 1914 according to a design by the architect Fr. Theede. The museum railway station was built in 1914, the same year in which the extension of the narrow-gauge railway to Schönberger Strand was opened on 18 June.

Inside, the station building has largely been preserved in its original form, particularly the ticket hall with the ticket office. The Schönberger Strand museum railway collection includes more than 30 tram vehicles from northern Germany. This means that at the museum railway station you will encounter both a preserved station building and historic vehicles from the northern German region.
