Barsbek: Hotels and accommodations

The Barsbeker See and Surroundings Nature Reserve can be reached by bicycle from Barsbek or from the Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route along the dike. A short route to the Baltic Sea leads through picturesque salt marshes and over an old dike to a beach.

Nature

The lake in the Barsbeker See and Surroundings Nature Reserve covers approximately 40 hectares; the entire area encompasses 146 hectares. Barsbeker See is also the hunting ground of a pair of white-tailed eagles.

Cycle paths

The Probstei region is crisscrossed by kilometers of paved, well-signposted cycle paths and hiking trails leading through fields, villages, nature reserves, historic monuments, and picturesque lakes. At the municipal parking lot on the B 502, there is a free e-bike charging station with four charging points.

Culture and village character

Barsbek’s village green is lined with more than 60 old linden trees. In spring, thousands of colorful crocuses bloom there, attracting visitors from near and far. The annual Crocus Coffee event features homemade cake and handcrafted goods made by the local crochet club.

Barsbek has three timber granaries, a type of building regarded as cultural heritage from Slavic times. The timber granary belonging to the Sinjen and Wiese families can be seen from the road. During the annual Probsteier Korn Days, Barsbek displays new straw-figure designs next to the municipal parking lot on the B 502.
