Wisch: Hotels and accommodations
Heidkate has a 3.7-kilometer-long fine-sand natural beach, for which no beach fee is charged.
Village and history
Wisch is one of the oldest villages in Probstei and was first mentioned in 1216. Historic settlement structures are visible in the layout of the streets as well as in preserved historic buildings and farmsteads. The village center is organized around the Peace Oak; a circular route leads along Redder, Moor and Dorfstraße.
A 4.5-meter-high dike protects Wisch from flooding. There is a campsite in Wisch’s tourism area.
Paths and village life
The farm tracks in Wisch lead through landscapes of hedges and meadows to the beach. They can be used for walking, cycling and horseback riding. In winter, children from the surrounding area use Jägersberg as a sledding hill.
Wisch has direct access to Probstei’s network of hiking and cycling paths. SprottenFlotte bicycle rental stations are located at the corner of Postweg and Kaiserkoppel and at the Heidkate parking lot.
Coast
The Heidkate parking lot is located directly behind the dike and can be reached via the B 502 and K 33 roads. The Heidkate Lighthouse is a landmark and helps visitors find their way to the beach.
The dog beach in Heidkate extends across three groyne fields. There is also a large surfers’ beach with a surf school. Two areas in Heidkate are designated for kite flying. Activities in Heidkate include surfing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddling and surf fishing.
