Discover Hadsund on the Mariager Fjord

A defining feature of Hadsund is Hadsund Bridge: at the narrowest point of the Mariager Fjord, it connects the north and south. The town’s history began as a ferry crossing and small trading station. Today, maritime impressions, historic buildings, cycling and hiking trails, and nature experiences around the fjord come together here.

Fjord, promenade and harbours

The harbour promenade allows you to take a walk along the quay with views of the Mariager Fjord. There are municipal harbours both west and east of Hadsund Bridge. Hadsund Fiskeri- og Lystbådehavn was established in 1937 and was a busy fishing harbour for many years. Today, it has a clubhouse, a terrace, and toilet and bathing facilities. Hadsund Lystbådehavn is surrounded by the fjord and idyllic woodland and is a suitable stopover for recreational sailors arriving from the Kattegat. There is also a small sandy beach near the dinghy harbour.

Cycling and hiking trails of varying distances

Cycle Route 18 runs between Hadsund and Randers along the Mariager Fjord. The Hadsund Route is an 11-kilometre cycling route close to nature between Gistrup and Hadsund. It follows the former railway line between Aalborg and Hadsund, which was closed in 1969, and has been developed as a paved route through flat terrain. Along the Hadsund Route there are shelters, toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables with benches. The North Sea Trail offers an approximately 48-kilometre hiking section from Hadsund to Lille Vildmose.

Forest, coast and wildlife observation

Linddalene is a 41-hectare, hilly woodland area with a marked route and smaller paths. The area has been protected since 1992 and comprises beech woodland, open heathland, and areas where sheep graze. Linddalene includes several burial mounds, including Lindhøj. The Ajstrup Bay offers a different landscape: the nature reserve has old, deep hollow ways and steep slopes above flat coastal areas formed by the raised seabed of the Stone Age sea. The hiking route there is marked with red triangles in both directions. It offers views of the bay, where barnacle geese overwinter together with many other migratory birds. The route starts at the free, unlimited-stay car park on Ajstrupvej in Hadsund.

Culture and attractions in Hadsund

Hadsund Kulturcenter is a former primary school building that is now used as a centrally located multicultural house and offers numerous activities, events and functions throughout the year. Hadsund Bio 1+2, a modern cinema with two auditoriums, is also located in the cultural centre. Hadsund Church was built in 1897–1898 in the shape of a cross, with a tall tower in the centre. Its carillon, inaugurated in 1992, has 26 bells and plays daily at 8, 10, 12, 15, 18 and 21. Hadsund Færgekro was built in 1823 by the innkeeper and ferryman Peder Nielsen from Rostrup. Today, the building houses the Panorama Restaurant and a terrace with views of the Mariager Fjord. The exhibitions of Hadsund Egnssamling and the Møllehistorisk Samling close. The municipal Hadsund Swimming Pool is located on the grounds of Hadsund School and offers public opening hours in addition to school swimming.
