Nørresundby on the Limfjord: Beach Park, Harbor and Viking Culture
On the Limfjord, Nørresundby combines experiences on the water, maritime sites and exceptionally tangible history.
Limfjord, Beach Park and Harbor
Lindholm Beach Park is located directly on the Limfjord in Nørresundby. The water quality is classified as excellent. A floating bridge in the beach park is accessible to everyone and complements the Lindholm Brygge bathing station, which provides safe access to the Limfjord via a bathing jetty. This allows you to enjoy your time by the water in different ways, without equating the individual sites and their documented offerings. The harbor is also part of the character of the town. Tunnelhavnen is an active marina on the Limfjord in Nørresundby. At Syrens Jolleplads, there are opportunities for kayaking, SUP, using small boats and fishing. Those who would rather view the fjord landscape on foot will find a path in Stigsborg that marks the old shoreline and invites them to walk and take in the scenery.Viking Age and Local Culture
Lindholm Høje is an important focal point for those interested in history. It contains around 700 cremation graves from the Iron Age and Viking Age. The Vikingemuseet Lindholm Høje also offers an exhibition about Viking life at Lindholm Høje. The approximate number of graves is deliberately presented as a historical classification rather than an exact inventory figure. You will also find other cultural points of reference in the townscape. Nørresundby Church was built in the mid-12th century and has traditionally held KirkeKulturUge every March since 1998. Kirkens Hus hosts art exhibitions featuring works by local artists and themed exhibitions. Brohusets Kolonial is housed in the former ticket office that stood at the pontoon bridge over the Limfjord. The Urtehaven first welcomed the public in 1977; the garden contains a collection of historic stones.Paths, Views and Active Days
For walks and views, Stigsborghøjen offers vistas of the Limfjord and Stigsparken. Syrestien runs through Stigsparken and then continues along the Hærvejsruten to Hammer Bakker. City bus route 16 connects Stigsborg with Nørresundby Midtby, Aalborg Midtby and City Syd. Skansen has a 220-meter-long zip line with a vertical drop of 26 meters. This offering differs from the water activities at Jolleplads and the path in Stigsborg. The cultural sites provide a different focus: Lindholm Høje, the church, museum, exhibitions and Urtehaven represent different periods and forms of local culture. Svømmeland adds a 50-meter pool as well as 1- and 3-meter diving boards to the selection. There are also warm wellness pools indoors and outdoors, as well as a sauna. These different types of experiences help you narrow down the preferred focus and location for your accommodation in Nørresundby. Within the same broader travel area, you will also find Vestbjerg Vestbjerg, Ajstrup Ajstrup, Nibe Nibe, Gjøl Gjøl, Lundby Lundby, Vadum Vadum, Gandrup Gandrup and Tylstrup Tylstrup. To the broader travel overview: Aalborg Municipality.
