Bønnerup Strand: Harbour, Beach and Maritime Experiences

In Bønnerup Strand, the harbour, beach and nature trails offer different ways to experience the Baltic coast. You can choose between swimming, maritime activities, walks and family-oriented attractions. This gives the area a distinct profile for different travel interests, without the beach, harbour and nature promising the same experience.

Beach, water and peaceful trails

Bønnerup Strand Øst is a sandy beach near Bønnerup with shallow water and is particularly suitable for families. In 2026, it has been awarded Blue Flag status; the beach is considered clean and well maintained, has good facilities and offers clean bathing water. A walk along Bønnerup Strand provides the opportunity to search for amber as well as other stones and finds. This allows time by the sea to be combined with attentive beachcombing.

Directly behind Bønnerup Harbour lies the nature-rich area of Bønnerup-Fjellerup Strand – Skademose – Havbakker, with wooded hills, open meadows and peaceful trails. The marked Nordsøstien hiking and cycling route runs through Bønnerup Strand. This creates a landscape in which time on the coast is complemented by green and tranquil stretches of trail.

Harbour and maritime activities

The Bønnerup Lystbådehavn marina offers a maritime point of reference. It has approximately 270 berths, each between 2 and 8 metres wide. The Maritime Hus at Vestre Mole offers maritime activities such as snorkelling, stand-up paddleboarding and sailing. In Bønnerup Strand, maritime experiences therefore range from the harbour setting to activities on and in the water.

At the outer breakwaters of Bønnerup Harbour, there are fishing spots that can also be used by people with disabilities. At Østmolen, a bathing jetty and a sauna container make year-round swimming possible.

Summer experiences for families

There are further specific experiences for children at the harbour: At Børnenes havn, they can catch crabs behind the promenade bridge in summer. Børnenes havn also includes a large, well-equipped playground south of Vestre Mole. During the summer holidays, the Blue Flag station at Bønnerup Harbour offers activities such as painting stones, making crab soup, dissecting fish and creating sand sculptures. The harbour activities appeal to different forms of children’s coastal experiences.

Harbour festival in July

The Bønnerup Harbour Festival also has a clear maritime connection. It takes place every year in July over several festival days. In 2027, it will be held from 7 July to 11 July and will include live music, a flea market, fairground rides and numerous activities for locals and visitors. During this period, the harbour town gains an additional cultural focus.
