Lüssow: Hotels and Accommodations

Lake Pütter is a destination for excursions in an attractive landscape. A path leads from Pütte to Langendorf directly along Lake Pütter; from Langendorf, the route can be continued along Lake Borgwall to Lüssow.

Landscape and Paths

Lüssow offers views of a wind farm as well as fields and meadows. There is an island measuring 300 to 400 meters on Lake Pütter, which was probably the site of a fortified Slavic settlement. The island is used by several animal species.

History and Culture

Lüssow was first mentioned in 1270. In 1302, the town was sold to the city of Stralsund and subsequently became a village belonging to Stralsund. As early as around 10,000 BCE, an ancient trade route ran past Lake Pütter.

The Langendorf gold bowls were found in a field between Gut Langendorf and Lake Borgwall and date from the Bronze Age. The two pieces are among the highlights of the archaeological collection of the STRALSUND MUSEUM and are among the most valuable exhibits in the prehistoric and early historic collection. Stralsund’s historic old town is also closely connected to the region’s history: In 2002, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List together with Wismar.

The listed Galgenberg waterworks complex comprises the entrance pump house and two residential buildings.

Lüssow in the Surroundings of Stralsund

Lüssow is a suburban municipality at the gates of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. At the same time, Lüssow is one of the municipalities administered by the Niepars administrative district in Vorpommern-Rügen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Lüssow district lies along Federal Highway 194.
