History and Culture
Dobin am See is historically associated with a medieval castle attributed to the Obotrite prince Niklot. It is believed to have been built in 1147 between Lake Schwerin and the Döpe near Neu Flessenow. Most of the villages in the municipal association were first documented in the 13th century.
The Schwerin Cathedral is located in the surrounding area. The wider regional area also includes the Schwerin State Museum, the Schwerin-Zippendorf television tower, and the Groß Raden open-air museum.
