Gneven: Hotels and Accommodation

Gneven is located in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, east of Lake Schwerin and a few kilometers from Schwerin. The Warnow River flows through the municipality.

Nature

More than half of the hilly municipal area is forested. Hohes Holz is located in the west; the municipality also contains smaller lakes such as Lake Vorbeck. Flakenwerder, an island, is located in the immediate vicinity of Gneven. The surrounding area contains the islands of Kaninchenwerder, Schwaneninsel, and Goldburg.

Location

Gneven is located south of the B104 federal highway and north of the B321 federal highway. Nearby cities include Schwerin, Brüel, and Crivitz.

Culture

The “Schwerin, State Museum” museum and “Schwerin Cathedral” church are located in the area around Gneven. The Schwerin-Zippendorf TV Tower, a viewpoint, is also located in the surrounding area. The Groß Raden Open-Air Museum, a museum, is located in the wider regional area.

History

Gneven was first documented in 1246. The area had already been settled earlier and was affected by the Thirty Years’ War.
