Discover Neetzow: Manor House, Palace Park and Hiking Route

The Neetzow palace grounds include Neetzow Palace, a manor house built around 1850 in the Gothic Tudor style. The design was created by Berlin architect Georg F. H. Hitzig; historic wall and ceiling decorations have been preserved through the building’s continuous use. For those interested in culture, the Gothic Tudor style, the Berlin architect’s design and the preserved interior details of the manor house are the main attractions. The design and the preserved decorations also draw attention to both the exterior form and the historic interiors. The sequence of the estate grounds and manor house alone makes the architectural and historical aspects of the site visible.

Palace History and Manor Estate

The von Kruse family operated the Neetzow manor estate as an agricultural and forestry business from 1803 to 1945. Agriculture and forestry together form part of the manor estate’s historic use.

Landscape Park with Lake and Birds

The Neetzow palace grounds include a landscape park laid out according to plans by Peter Joseph Lenné. A small lake, numerous exotic and native trees, and a habitat for numerous birds that can be observed are part of this park. The park represents the connection between a designed landscape, a body of water and birdlife. The combination of the lake, variety of trees and birds appeals to different interests in nature.

Places in the Surrounding Area

The surrounding area of Neetzow includes the Trabbi-Scheune museum and Quilow Water Castle. The Quilow village church and the village church in Bentzin are also nearby. Both are churches. The area around Neetzow therefore includes a museum, another palace and two ecclesiastical buildings; these places are not part of a shared complex.

Hills Around Neetzow

Annual Event and Hiking Route

As part of the annual MittsommerRemise, Neetzow Palace opens to the interested public once a year.

A hiking route leads from Liepen manor farm via Priemen, Kagenow and Neetzow back to Liepen. For your orientation, it is clear that Liepen is at both the beginning and the end of the route, while Neetzow lies along its course.
