Schlagsdorf: Hotels and accommodations

The circular route around Lake Mechow begins and ends in Schlagsdorf and is approximately nine kilometers long. The lake is also a resting and sleeping place for numerous waterbird species.

History

The Grenzhus Schlagsdorf presents the history of the inner-German border between the Baltic Sea and the Elbe from 1945 to 1990 from the perspective of people living in the border region. The exhibition explores life on both sides of the border, the GDR border regime, and the Cold War.

Since 2018, the Grenzhus Schlagsdorf has been redesigned and open to visitors. It can be reached from Ratzeburg railway station via an on-demand bus service. The Grenzhus offers guided tours and bicycle excursions.

Culture

Schlagsdorf village church is a late Romanesque, two-aisled hall church built at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century. It contains an altarpiece made in 1641 and a wooden pulpit dating from 1703.
