Hohen Schönberg between Baltic Sea views and nature

Hohen Schönberg is a destination for you if your stay is to be shaped by an easy cycling tour, Baltic Sea views, protected nature, and tangible cultural and family experiences. The “Wide Views” tour from Klütz is around 42 km long and takes approximately three hours. It leads via Grundshagen to the Hoher Schönberg organic farm and reaches the viewing platform there, at the highest elevation in the Klützer Winkel, about 90 m above sea level. From the platform, the panoramic view extends far across the landscape and the Baltic Sea.

The viewing platform on Hohen Schönberg is freely accessible and is one of the sights of the municipality of Kalkhorst. Another cycling tour, “Robber Barons and Gallows Birds,” passes the viewing platform at the Hoher Schönberg farm; from there, you can enjoy a view across Lübeck Bay. This means you encounter the viewpoint on two different cycling tours, each offering a view over the coastal landscape.

To the north, the Lenorenwald landscape conservation area also includes Hohen Schönberg. South of the “Hoher Schönberg” elevation, two giant sequoias stand in the Lenorenwald. The listed heritage of Hohen Schönberg includes the school at Kalkhorster Straße 17 and the barn at Kalkhorster Straße 17a. The listed farmstead ensemble at Kalkhorster Straße 2 comprises a longhouse, a barn, and a former horse stable. The Hoher Schönberg organic farm is partly operated as a museum farm based on historical models. At Galerie Mooin, an exhibition combines art and outdoor space with a sculpture park. Local experiences for different interests

Café Landliebe serves homemade cakes and gateaux. The café also has a roughly 90 m² SIKU Control miniature landscape with original radio-controlled vehicles. The café offers children's birthday parties with their own SIKU race, cakes made to order, and a special birthday package for young guests. The combination of cakes, a miniature landscape, and racing activities creates a clear family-oriented focus within a visit to Hohen Schönberg.

At the farm shop of the Hoher Schönberg farm, visitors can watch four raw-food oil mills at work and experience freshly pressed oil made from seeds and nuts. At the SeelenWiege exhibition in Hohen Schönberg, you can try out the hanging loungers and receive advice about them. In addition to the cycling tour, the landscape conservation area, and the listed buildings, you will also find experiences centered on observing, experiencing, trying things out, and receiving advice.
