Krembz: Hotels and accommodations

Krembz is located near Lake Schaalsee in a hilly part of Northwestern Mecklenburg. Several districts are considered part of the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve.

Nature and landscape

Part of the municipality of Krembz belongs to the Schaalsee Nature Park. The rest of the municipal area contains forests. The Neuendorfer Moor nature reserve is located 1 kilometer east of Krembz.

The northern part of Schönwolder Moor belongs to the municipality of Krembz. Schönwolder Moor is considered Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s only raised bog with an almost undisturbed layering of the peat body. It is not possible to enter the bog because there are no paths there.

There is no Deutsche Bahn railway station within the boundaries of the Schaalsee UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

History and architectural heritage

The Groß Salitz manor house was built in the second half of the 17th century and is considered one of Mecklenburg’s oldest manor houses. Groß Salitz has preserved a largely intact historic village structure. Several well-preserved farmhouses have survived in Stöllnitz.

The church in Groß Salitz dates from the early 13th century and contains a number of works of art. In the Krembz area, the restored Schönwolde hunting lodge is considered a privately owned attraction; concerts and events are occasionally held there.

Events and routes

Since 2021, cultural events have been held at Groß Salitz manor house, including concerts, readings, and children’s concerts. The FahrradKulTourKirche Groß Salitz project invites cycling tourists, hikers, and pilgrim groups to stop in Groß Salitz.

Cycle Tour 7 – Northern Shore of Lake Schaalsee begins at Gadebusch railway station and is approximately 43 kilometers long. Its attractions also include the churches in Groß Salitz.
