Dragun: Lake, Village Church and Cycling Tour

Vietlübbe Village Church: layers of history

The village church in Vietlübbe belongs to the municipality of Dragun and dates from the early 13th century. Its furnishings include a Late Romanesque baptismal font from the 13th century in the south aisle and a triumphal cross group dating from around 1510 on the triumphal beam. The windows contain three cabinet panes dating from 1622 and 1710; a Friese (III) organ from 1865 stands on the west gallery. The baptismal font therefore dates from the same century as the church. The cross group, cabinet panes and organ add later-dated features spanning the period from around 1510 to 1865.

The architecture also includes a wooden tower built in the 17th or 18th century. The churchyard contains a mausoleum from the late 19th century, serving as the burial place of the Rudloff family. These add two further dates to the church’s history: the construction of the tower and the later family connection to the churchyard.

Cycling from Dragun
