Saal: Hotels and accommodations

Saal is located on the southeastern shore of the Saaler Bodden lagoon. The municipality includes Bodden waters, mixed forests, and larger woodland areas—a landscape that can be explored on foot and by bicycle.

Water and harbor

Neuendorf marina is located on the eastern shore of the Saaler Bodden lagoon. There is a natural bathing area with access for SUPs, kayaks, pedal boats, and surfers. Saal Water Sports Center offers kitesurfing, SUP, wing foiling, and kayaking.

Fishing is possible in the Saal clay pits and the Saaler Bach stream with a tourist fishing permit. Tourist information is available at the Neuendorf waterway rest area. The boat rental service at the harbor offers motorboats for excursions and fishing trips, with or without a boating license. Boat trips from Neuendorf can lead across the Neuendorfer Bülten to the Saaler Bodden lagoon.

Culture and history

Saal’s oldest building is the Gothic brick church. Its clockwork mechanism is fully preserved; the church contains grave steles, most of which date from the 18th century. The Kulturscheune cultural barn in Kückenshagen showcases regional art and artists.

In the Saal Forest, the Saal Apostles’ Stones form a ring of thirteen stones. They can be reached independently via Saaler Straße “Kolonie” as far as the edge of the forest and are freely accessible.
