History
Usėnai was first mentioned in written sources in 1722. The Pagėgiai–Šilutė railway line was built through Usėnai in 1874.
In October 1944, a battle took place near Usėnai between the 16th Lithuanian Division of the Soviet Army and military units of Nazi Germany. In 1976, a wooden memorial ensemble was erected in Usėnai to commemorate the victims of the Second World War.

The Usėnai Library organizes excursions and educational activities in the "Old Usėnai Cemeteries" series.
Old village cemeteries are considered protected immovable cultural heritage objects of ethnocultural and historical value. The historic Lutheran cemeteries around Usėnai feature preserved metal crosses.
