The St. Vincent Ferrer Church complex in Degučiai is listed in Lithuania’s cultural heritage register as a monument of national significance; the organ in Degučiai’s St. Vincent Ferrer Church is registered as a cultural heritage object.

Culture

The Degučių St. Vincent Ferrer Church may be the only surviving triangular wooden church in Europe. The Baroque Degučiai Church was built in the 1760s. Inside, three carved Baroque altars form a cohesive artistic ensemble.

The churchyard includes a wooden cross with folk-art carvings and a four-sided bell tower clad in boards. Degučiai Church also has a pulpit connected to a confessional, made by local craftsmen in 1814. The church and its grounds are decorated with ornate metalwork by regional blacksmiths from various periods, including crosses, gates and window grilles.

On the Way

The Žemaičių Naumiestis–Degučiai–Katyčiai route runs through the area and includes St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Degučiai. It can be travelled by car or bicycle. In Degučiai, the route passes a wayside shrine with a wrought-iron cross.
