Karklė is the only surviving fishing village on the Lithuanian Baltic coast.

Coast and Tradition

Karklė has preserved its ethnographic character, history, and traditions. Net fishing is still practiced here today.

The traditional festive coastal community gathering “Menkinė” takes place in September. The gathering features traditional crafts, games, traditional fish soup with cod, and local folklore.

Nature and Trails

Karklė is located in the Pajūris Regional Park. Karklė has pebble beaches and white-sand beaches. The Olando kepurės skardis natural monument is a prominent natural landmark.

The health trails near Karklė are marked with color-coded arrows, and information boards are located at trail intersections. The “Litorina” educational trail runs between Olando Kepurė and Kukuliškiai Hill.

Visitor Center

The visitor center of Pajūris Regional Park is located at 54 Placio Street in Karklė. The visitor center features a 648-liter aquarium with an ecosystem model of the Baltic coast near Karklė. It also has an educational exhibition with games for children.
