Dreverna: Hotels and Accommodation

Dreverna preserves Lithuania’s only surviving shipbuilder’s homestead, the J. Gižo Ethnographic Homestead.

Culture and History

The J. Gižo Ethnographic Homestead presents the history of boatbuilding on the Curonian Lagoon in an interactive exhibition. Excursions, educational activities and cultural events are offered for visitors of different ages. During the “Mūsų vėtrungė” activity, participants create their own weather vane from wooden pieces and decorate it.

Dreverna has been documented since the 13th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the settlement was a trading centre where fish markets were held. Dreverna’s small boat harbour was established in 2009.

Harbour and Waterways

Dreverna’s pier infrastructure supports tourist boat traffic via the Minija to the Curonian Lagoon and onward to Ventė Cape, Klaipėda, Nida, Svencelė and the Baltic Sea. The harbour rents out pedal boats, stand-up paddleboards and a kayak catamaran for eight people.

A seasonal passenger ferry connects Dreverna with Juodkrantė. Excursions by boat and motorboat from Dreverna can travel on the Curonian Lagoon, into the Nemunas Delta, and to Juodkrantė and Nida.

Fish Dishes in Dreverna

The “Dreverna” restaurant serves fish dishes prepared mainly from fresh fish caught by local fishermen.
