Tårnby Municipality between Amager Nature Park and the Øresund

In Tårnby Municipality, Amager Nature Park covers 3,500 hectares and consists of Amager Fælled, Kalvebod Fælled, Kongelunden and Dragør Sydstrand.

Nature

Kalvebod Fælled is protected as part of the EU Natura 2000 network and designated as a nature reserve; the coastal meadows, in particular, with their unique plant and bird life, are protected. On the hiking route through Kalvebod Fælled, you can observe birds of prey hunting, larks, lapwings, swans, ducks and other migratory birds.

The Amarminoen is a 24-kilometre route that begins at DR Byen, passes through Kalvebod Fælled and ends in the south in Dragør. It runs across open coastal meadows, to the gnarled oaks on the coast in Kongelunden, through a bird sanctuary and through Pinseskoven, Denmark’s largest naturally seeded birch forest. The Hestefælledruten connects forest, meadow and beach; the new dike offers a view. On the Pinseskovsruten, you experience an open birch forest and may be lucky enough to spot fallow deer. In Ugandaskoven, there is a raised viewing platform overlooking the trees of the forest and a small pond.

The TårnbyTuren is approximately 15 kilometres long and runs from Kastrup Lystbådehavn through several green areas of the city to Amager Nature Park. It is accessible to prams and wheelchairs, although in some places it runs along uneven grass and woodland paths. The different route lengths and surfaces help you compare the routes according to the desired length of your day.

Water

At Kastrup Strandpark, there is direct access to the Øresund for swimming from the beach, the bathing jetty and the diving boards. In addition to swimming, fishing, sailing and diving are possible there. Kastrup Søbad can be used year-round and free of charge and has accessible changing rooms and toilets.

Kastrup Lystbådehavn comprises a historic harbour from 1954 and a modern harbour from 1985; the facilities also include space for around 900 boats, clubhouses and maritime activities.

Culture

Kastrupgård Collection is a state-recognised art museum for modern graphic art and presents several special exhibitions each year. The graphic collection comprises more than 7,000 graphic works, created primarily by artists based in Denmark and elsewhere in the Nordic countries. In an educational programme on modern graphic art, participants can print their own graphic works.

Under the title “Gå og oplev kunst”, you can discover statues and sculptures in Tårnby and find the blue benches by artist Jeppe Hein. Den Blå Planet offers behind-the-scenes tours where you can see areas for animal keepers, maintenance corridors, tanks for fish before they are added to the exhibition, as well as the large pumping and filtration system.

Byparken offers, among other things, a nature playground, fitness equipment, facilities for skating, pétanque, basketball and cycling, a perennial garden, a maze of beech hedges, as well as paths and activity routes. Skolebotanisk Have offers opportunities for nature experiences and activities, including searching for small animals on land and in the water. Other residents may walk there or sit on benches or on the grass, provided the area is not currently being used by schools or childcare centres.

The metro station at Copenhagen Airport is directly connected to Terminal 3; during the day and evening, the metro runs every 4 to 6 minutes, and the journey from Nørreport to the airport takes 15 minutes. National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet, is located in Kastrup, 600 metres from Kastrup Station on metro line M2.
