Ã…rsdale: Hotels and accommodation
Årsdale is a village on the east coast of Bornholm between Svaneke and Nexø. Its location combines a distinctive coastal landscape with the peaceful character of a small local community that is not a typical Bornholm tourist destination.
Coast and villagescape
Ã…rsdale is situated on beach ridges and rocky slopes. As a result, the settlement features a rocky coastal landscape. The local beach is characterised by the red Ã…rsdale Gravel; swimming is possible from rocky outcrops along the Baltic Sea coast.
Culture
The villagescape includes several half-timbered houses that are more than 200 years old. A distinctive landmark is Årsdale Mølle: the Dutch windmill was built in 1877, is still in operation and grinds flour using wind power.
Surroundings
Hullehavn and Brændesgårdshaven are located in the immediate vicinity of Årsdale. Bodilskirke, Sankt Povls Kirke, Bornholm and Slamrebjerg are situated in the surrounding area. Sorte Gryde and Rutskirke are located farther afield in the wider region.
Harbour and local character
Bornholm's Sea Kayak Center is based in the harbour of Ã…rsdale. The centre offers guided tours along the east coast of Bornholm. Smoked herring is named as a Bornholm speciality; it is available at the local Ã…rsdale Smokehouse.
