Ordrup – Fjord Trail, Views and Historic Traces
The spatial sequence is interesting when choosing where to stay: at the western end of the village, an exceptional view opens over the Elverdamsdalen valley, while the Fjord Trail creates connections to the shore, village and forest. This allows Ordrup to be experienced through several landscape and historical elements. Three themes therefore emerge for travellers: outdoor activity, coastal views and historic traces. This creates different priorities when planning a trip: a view into the distance, a waterside path or an exploration of older traces in the forest. When choosing a location, the type of path and the historical connection can therefore be just as relevant as the view.
The Fjord Trail and waterside paths
The Fjord Trail runs along Elverdamsvej in the Ordrup By district. In Ordrup, there is a car park providing access to a walk along the Fjord Trail beside the Isefjord. At Tempelkrog Nord, pedestrians and cyclists can continue to the village of Ordrup. Ordrup Landsby is one of the attractions along the Fjord Trail 5 section. Those travelling on foot or by bicycle can include these different landscape and local connections when planning their excursion.
Fjord views, the estuary and the forest path
From Ordrup, you can reach the mouth of the Elverdamsåen via the Fjord Trail and enjoy views of Egernæs along the way. The return route leads through Ordrup Forest to Vintre Møller. On the way to the mouth, the open fjord landscape and the view of Egernæs take centre stage. On the return journey, the landscape changes as the path leads through Ordrup Forest to Vintre Møller. Those who see the Fjord Trail not only as a waterside path but also as a connection between different landscapes can divide the excursion accordingly.
Historic landscape in Ordrup Forest
Ordrup Forest contains several prehistoric burial mounds. Rundhøj in Ordrup Forest is located on a forest path, about 350 m from a public road, at the edge of a higher moraine on a valley slope descending towards the northeast. The approximately 350 m to the public road describe the location of Rundhøj in the forest, not the length of the entire path. At the edge of the moraine and on the descending valley slope, the burial mound is connected to the terrain features of the forest. Rundhøj thus forms a specific historic point within the forest landscape. Those who wish to consider nature and older history together can include it in their walk through the forest.
