Hakenäset on Hakefjorden – Nature, Culture and Trails

In the southeastern part of the Hakenäset peninsula, sweeping views open out across Hakefjorden and the mainland.

Water, Islands and Nature

With its many islands, Hakefjorden offers particularly good opportunities for outdoor recreation on land and water, as well as enriching nature and cultural experiences. Viewed from the marina, Hakenäset lies on the opposite side of the entrance to Svanviks Kile. Harbour porpoises are occasionally spotted in the area of Hakefjorden near Hakenäset. Hakenäset is considered a habitat for woodpeckers, with many green woodpeckers and occasional black woodpeckers.

Archaeology and History

At Berga on Hakenäset lies Gullhögen, a passage grave. Gullhögen is an example of the small passage graves with rounded chambers that are typical of Bohuslän. Its rounded chamber has a diameter of just over 2 metres, while the passage is just under 3 metres long. Next to Gullhögen on Hakenäset, a previously unknown Pitted Ware settlement was discovered. Valla 489 is considered a well-preserved settlement with features and finds in situ; it is considered to have high educational potential. In Berga hamn, there was a train-oil distillery in the 1750s.

Trails Across Farms and Cliffs

The Bergapromenaden led uphill along paths between the farms to Porsdalen and then downhill to Sandviken. From Porsdalen on the Bergapromenaden, there are views across Hakefjorden. The return route of the Bergapromenaden to Berga hamn ran along cliffs by the water. A hike through Bökeviken and Hakenäset documented in 2025 was approximately 5 kilometres long and led through forest paths, hilly trails and wooded areas. A cultural-history hike between Bökeviken and Hakenäset passed several old farms, illustrating the historical and cultural character of the area.

Local Work and Landscape Protection

Linds lantbruk produces beef and potatoes and sells them directly from the farm as well as to nearby shops. Linds lantbruk has been KRAV-certified since 1994. Linds lantbruk's animals remain outdoors all year round and have access to shelter. Near Hakenäset, Thomas Nilsson runs a studio where he works in graphic art and painting. In part of Hakenäset, a change to landscape protection enacted in 1980 and documented in 1981 means that felling trees without permission from the County Administrative Board is prohibited.
