Kovikshamn – Cliffs, Harbor and Sundhammar

Kovikshamn combines a rugged coastal landscape, maritime local history and specific destinations for days by the water. The natural areas around Kovikshamn are characterized to a large extent by bare cliffs. Those who choose a place based on its landscape rather than just a single attraction will therefore find a clearly recognizable character here: rocky nature stands alongside a fishing village and access to a small boat harbor.

Compared with the sandy beach at Sundhammars badplats, the landscape here is characterized by rock rather than sand. For active travelers and anyone who considers the landscape and outdoor activities when choosing where to stay, this gives it a distinctly different character from a destination centered on a single stretch of beach. Kovikshamn is also a fishing village. The small boat harbor adds a specific connection to the water to this maritime local setting. A kayaking trip on Ryskärsfjorden began with a meeting in Kovikshamn. The harbor thus represents the maritime connection to the place, while Ryskärsfjorden is associated with a specific kayaking experience. For days by the water, two different facets therefore stand side by side: spending time in the fishing village and taking a trip on the fjord.

Sundhammars badplats and getting your bearings locally

For a stay focused on the beach and swimming, Sundhammars badplats is located in the vicinity of Kovikshamn. It has a floating landing stage, a sandy beach, bathing jetties, benches and a toilet. Access to the water, the sandy beach and the facilities are all located at one shared destination. Sundhammars badplats therefore offers a different focus from the bare cliffs around Kovikshamn: here, the emphasis is on the beach and swimming, while there it is on the rocky coastal landscape. To reach Sundhammars badplats, turn at the roundabout toward Kovikshamn/Vedhall and then follow the signs to Sundhammar. Västtrafik line 313 operates on the Kärna–Kovikshamn–Vedhall–Kärna route.
