Culture and History
Hjo City Park was established in the 1870s as the spa park of Hjo Vattenkuranstalt. In summer 2018, Hjo City Park and its buildings became Hjo’s first listed architectural heritage site. The park has tennis courts, mini-golf, chess, a large playground and a free, illuminated outdoor gym. The well-preserved wooden architecture in Hjo received a Europa Nostra medal for the preservation of shared cultural heritage.
The Kulturkvarteret Pedagogien in Hjo offers a library, exhibitions, tourist information and a cinema, as well as spaces for events, concerts and conferences. The Kvarterskvällar at Kulturkvarteret Pedagogien are free public evenings that may include lectures, exhibition openings and entertainment, among other things. Nearby places include Grevbäck and Hjo.

Nature and Water
Hjoåns dalgång is part of the Natura 2000 network of areas protected by the European Union. Walking and cycling trails run throughout the entire Hjoåns dalgång area. The Vättern bathing area, Guldkroken, is a sandy beach in the middle of Hjo harbour. It has changing rooms, rentable bathing cabins and a wheelchair ramp leading down to Lake Vättern.
At the Badhyttsbastun sauna at Guldkroksbadet, you can enjoy a sauna all year round with a view of Lake Vättern. The sauna experience at Badhyttsbastun can be combined with a swim in Lake Vättern.
Outdoor Activities
The Högaliden MTB Arena has mountain bike trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels. There are also prepared areas with pump tracks, berms, bridges and jumps. The Högaliden outdoor recreation area offers activities all year round, including leisurely walks, running, mountain biking, disc golf and outdoor training.
When there is snow, Högaliden offers opportunities for cross-country skiing and sledding. The Högaliden MTB Arena starts at the clubhouse in the Högaliden outdoor recreation area; maps and signs on site help with navigation on the trails.
