History
The Kappeln herring fence is a historic herring fishing installation whose origins date back to the 15th century. The present-day installation is considered the last of its kind in Germany and Europe. The herring fence can be experienced from the banks of the Schlei Bridge; from a boat, it can be viewed and explored as part of a guided city tour.
