Scharbeutz combines around six kilometres of Baltic Sea beach with a multifunctional coastal promenade. Its cycle path can also be used for inline skating.

Beach and Promenade

The beach promenade offers direct views of the Baltic Sea and direct access to Scharbeutz pier. The pier, which is more than 300 metres long, serves as a maritime promenade and offers panoramic views across the Baltic Sea.

Small shops and boutiques with views of the sea are located along Dünenmeile. At beach access 2 near Ostsee-Therme, there is a designated nudist beach.

At beach section 22 near Capolino, wooden walkways are laid across the beach. They are removed from autumn to spring because of storms and high water. At Grande Beach Scharbeutz, Strandallee 134a, there is a beach chair turner in beach section 17.

Water and Exercise

There are two SUP stations on Scharbeutz beach. SUP providers rent out boards and paddles, offer beginner instruction and run SUP courses.

Ostsee Therme Scharbeutz offers water activities, slides, wellness services and family-oriented leisure activities. The bathing area at Lake Großer Pönitzer See in Klingberg has a restaurant, a sunbathing lawn and a bathing jetty.

On Foot and by Bicycle

The route from Scharbeutz to Sierksdorf passes the dune golf course and the skate park in Scharbeutz. The dune golf course has 18 holes among beach grass and obstacles, with the Baltic Sea in the background.

The Fischbrötchenstraße runs along the coast through Scharbeutz and can be explored by bicycle. The “Fahrrad findet Fisch” cycling tour starts in Scharbeutz, is 44 kilometres long and leads to more than 15 fish sandwich stops.

Culture and Local Orientation

The beach church in Scharbeutz stands directly on the Baltic Sea; the beach can be incorporated into the church service.

Both platforms at Scharbeutz railway station have step-free access, train indicators, tactile guidance and high-contrast signage. The platform height is at least 55 centimetres.

From 1 May to 30 September, the DLRG offers free bathing wheelchairs in Scharbeutz and Haffkrug for bathing in the Baltic Sea.

Other places in the destination area include Pönitz Am See and Sarkwitz.
