Großenbrode: Hotels and Accommodation

Großenbrode is surrounded by water on three sides. This location shapes the town as much as the diverse opportunities at the South Beach, on the water and along the coast.

Water and Harbours

Großenbrode has six marinas with around 1,000 berths. SUP, kitesurfing and surfing are also available; board hire and taster courses are offered for these activities. Flatfish, eels, cod, sea trout, salmon and perch live in the Fehmarn Sound. Fishing opportunities are available there for these species.

Beach and Leisure

The South Beach has a 1.5-kilometre promenade and a pier. There are courts for beach volleyball and beach soccer, as well as free equipment for outdoor training at the Aktiv-Point. The water is shallow, and there are also sandbanks suitable for small children. The beach area also includes the KinderInsel, a play area next to the pier, and an adventure playground towards the mole.

Cycling and Nature

The Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route passes through Großenbrode on its way to Fehmarn and back. Local tour suggestions are between 24 and 35 kilometres long and lead to Heiligenhafen, Sütel, Gut Görtz and Meeschendorf. In addition, a three-kilometre nature trail with around 30 discovery stations runs through the forest, including the sensory trail known as the “Path of the Senses”.

Culinary Delights

Fish sandwiches, crêpes, ice cream, cakes and restaurant meals are available along the beach promenade. The menus at Großenbrode’s restaurants often feature fish from the Baltic Sea.

Großenbrode can be reached by car via the A1 to Heiligenhafen and then via the B207. The tourist information offices provide free brochures as well as cycling and hiking maps.
