At Gut Gaarz, small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, goats, and sheep are fed daily. The estate also has a weather-independent outdoor riding arena measuring 20 by 40 meters and an indoor riding arena measuring 20 by 60 meters.
Children aged three and over can be introduced to ponies at Gut Gaarz. Riding in the Gaarz fields takes place at a walk, trot, or canter.
Culture and history
Gut Gaarz is a working aristocratic estate on the Bay of Lübeck whose history was shaped by the Counts of Holstein and Brockdorf. The historic buildings have retained their listed façades. Horses have been bred at Gut Gaarz for more than 500 years.
The historic Kavaliershaus at Gut Gaarz dates from 1891. The fruit house was converted in the 1950s to store cherries, apples, and pears. The Marco Chapel in Göhl was built as part of Schleswig-Holstein's chapel construction program.
