Several craftsmen’s villas and the former school stand along the country road. Several buildings around Farstrup Church shape Farstrup’s historic settlement pattern. The church itself is the only known example in Jutland of a work by woodcarver Lorentz Jørgensen. For visitors interested in local history, this creates a multifaceted picture of the road, settlement pattern and ecclesiastical artwork.

Special Occasions and the Local Archive

Farstrup also displays a distinctive array of flags on special occasions. On religious holidays, during Idrætsuge and on the day of the town anniversary, a total of 40 flags fly along Nymøllevej, Vårvej and part of Viderupgårdsvej.

The Local Historical Archive for Farstrup and the Surrounding Area is located at Præstegårdsvej 8B in Farstrup. Visits are possible on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m.; appointments can also be made by arrangement. This gives the study of local history a specific address and a regular time window, clearly distinct from viewing the buildings and streets in the town.

Flat Land by the VÃ¥r Ã… Valley

The landscape around Farstrup is predominantly flat. The town lies on a flat area below the large Baunehøj, which is 48 metres above sea level. At the same time, Farstrup lies by the Vår Å valley; the Vår Å valley extends north of Farstrup to Vår Hovedgård. This creates an orienting landscape picture consisting of a flat setting, a specific elevation reference and the course of a valley that continues north of the town.

Skrædderengen and the Path across the Vår Å

A nature-oriented walk leads through Skrædderengen. The path passes a small, particularly valuable extreme-rich fen with several rare plant species, including common butterwort and dark red helleborine. The meadow at Skrædderengen is included in the Natura 2000 plans. The walking route then crosses the Vår Å along a field track and continues via a footpath to Staunvej. The change from field track to footpath makes the route just as tangible as the rare plant life and the crossing over the river.
