Dejret: Village Character, Coast and Nature at Skødshoved

Dejret lies high in a fertile, hilly landscape. North of Dejret, the landscape slopes gently down towards Kalø Vig and Knebel Vig. The elevated location thus meets an area sloping northwards between Kalø Vig and Knebel Vig.

Village Street and Rows of Farmhouses

Dejret on Skødshoved is a deliberately planned linear village with larger farms and country houses regularly arranged on both sides of the winding village street. The buildings follow a clear street layout that defines the character of Dejret.

Along Dejret Bygade there is also an almost intact row of larger four-winged farmhouses. On Dejret Bygade there is a well-preserved cooperative bakery that is rare in every respect. The remains of a windmill can also be seen in Dejret.

Marked Trails and Walking Distances

Sporet på Skødshoved runs through the area around Dejret; it is a 2.5 km route marked with yellow triangles on posts. For a short walk, its length provides a manageable framework. Anyone planning a compact route in the area can use the 2.5 km distance and the marked posts as a guide. The yellow triangles on posts accompany the short trail as visible markers in the landscape.

A walk of approximately 7 km leads from Skødshoved through Dejret, Blåkær, Landborup, Bjødstrup and Hundshøje and back. Compared with Sporet på Skødshoved, this loop is longer. The start and return are both in Skødshoved, making the route a circular walk. For planning purposes, the approximate length of about seven kilometres remains the key framework.

Nature Topics

There are 4–5 populations of natterjack toads in Syddjurs: on Dejret Øhoved, near Skødshoved at Strands and at Fejrup; possibly still at Øer as well. There are also scattered remnant populations on Dejret Øhoved. For those interested in nature, the natterjack toad is therefore a specific feature of the landscape around Dejret.

Dejret Beach and the Water

Dejret Beach can be reached via Skårhavvej. Fishing and sailing in small dinghies are popular activities at Dejret Beach. The water there reaches a depth of two metres approximately 100 to 150 metres from the shore. At Dejret Beach, access, fishing and dinghy sailing can be considered as three separate points when planning the day. At the same beach, access via Skårhavvej, fishing and dinghy sailing thus come together in a spatially described area of water.

Maritime Point of Interest

Another maritime point of interest in the area around Dejret and Skødshoved is Skødshovedbroen. It is visited by leisure boats and the “Micra” boats. At Skødshovedbroen, attention also turns to boat traffic in the area around Skødshoved.
