Loitz is situated on the Peene in the western part of Western Pomerania.
Geographical Location
The town is located in a flat, marshy lowland landscape. To the east of Loitz, the Schwinge Valley merges into the glacial valley of the Ibitzgraben; southeast of the town, the Ibitzgraben continues towards the Peene.
Nature
Near the district of Drosedow, the wider Loitz area includes Drosedow Forest and the Kronwald Nature Reserve; both are located near this district.
In the immediate surroundings of Loitz are Loitzer Berg and Treppenberg. The surrounding area also includes Eierberg.
Cycling Route
A 41.6-kilometre cycling tour leads from Loitz between the Peene and Schwinge towards Jarmen through the flat landscape of Western Pomerania.

Loitz is home to an 18th-century palace with a Baroque garden, as well as the town church of St. Mary.
