Coast and Bodden

Wiek on Rügen is located on the west coast of the Wittow peninsula, directly on the Bodden. From the village, views extend to the Bug nature reserve and the Dornbusch Lighthouse on Hiddensee.

The coastal path from Wiek towards Kuhle can be explored on foot. Parts of the route follow the former narrow-gauge railway line; the newly redesigned harbour adds another waterfront area.

Historical Traces

The Wiek Chalk Bridge is a historic, 130-metre-long reinforced-concrete loading ramp. It was built in 1914 to load bulk goods, especially chalk, from trains onto ships.

The area around Wiek on Rügen includes Schwedenschanze, Glowe Beach, Fährinsel, the dog beach, Fischerhaken and Beuchel.
