Trent: Hotels and Accommodation

Trent is a municipality on the island of Rügen in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen. The area is ideal for active holidays by the water combined with art and culture.

Water and Exercise

Vaschvitz is located within the municipality of Trent on the Rassower Strom in the north of Rügen. From there, the Wittow Ferry operates to the Wittow peninsula. It transports pedestrians and vehicles with a permitted total weight of up to 30 tonnes.

The 126-kilometre-long Great Rügen Cycling Tour can be started from Trent. From May to September, seasonal kitesurfing courses are offered in Vaschvitz, including an introductory course for beginners in shallow water.

Culture

At the Vaschvitz Art Barn, the musical programme ranges from Baroque music and jazz to musical theatre. Libnitz Manor House is notable for its extensive stables and a mausoleum modelled on those of ancient Greece.

The St. Catherine's Wayside Church is associated with Trent. It is a 14th-century Brick Gothic church located on the old Herring Road towards Vitt. Because of its location, it is considered a wayside church and serves travellers as a place to pause. The oldest surviving part is the chancel, built around 1400.

St. Catherine's is freely accessible at all times; according to the notice posted there, visits are possible from May to October or by prior arrangement. During the summer concert season, concerts take place in July and August.

At the Fähreck Inn in Trent, traditional home-style cooking and homemade ice cream are served.

History

Trent was first mentioned in 1311. In the 14th century, the area developed into an important agricultural and trading centre.
