Kluis is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.

Geographical location

Kluis is located approximately 12 kilometres northwest of Bergen auf Rügen and 7 kilometres northeast of Gingst.

Nature

Kluis is located in the Muttland region of the island of Rügen, on the Duwenbeek. It is considered the only larger flowing watercourse on Rügen. At the same time, Kluis is regarded as a rural area with unspoilt nature in western Rügen.

The surrounding area of Kluis includes Glowe Beach, the dog beach, Urkevitz and Mährens.

Culture

The Schwedenschanze is located in the surrounding area of Kluis. The St. Mary's Church in Waase and St. Mary's Church in Bergen are also nearby.

Transport and regional destinations

The B96 runs east of Kluis. The L30 branches off towards Gingst and towards Wittow Ferry on the Wittow peninsula.

The Stralsund Zoo is located in the wider regional surroundings of Kluis.
