They were created by early inhabitants of the region who settled there more than 4,000 years ago. The tombs therefore bring a very early period of local history into focus and are clearly distinct in age from Dargelin’s later historic buildings.

The town’s political history also goes back a long way. In 1284, Dargelin passed to the city of Greifswald through a donation by Bogislaw IV, Duke of Pomerania. It remained in the city’s possession until 1945. These details mark a long period of connection with Greifswald; they form a distinct part of local history alongside evidence of early settlement and the historic sites visible today.

The Manor House and Historic Farmsteads

Dargelin Manor House is a listed building in the town. It was built in the mid-19th century.
