Züsow: Hotels and Accommodations

Züsow’s landscape is characterized by strongly undulating to hilly terminal moraine relief.

Landscape

Züsow contains extensive forest areas. Small lakes, ponds, marshes, and alder swamps are among the characteristic landscape features of the locality.

Nature

The area surrounding Züsow includes wetlands and alder swamps where plants such as round-leaved sundew, globeflower, and cuckoo flower grow. The Züsow Forest offers opportunities for walking. A large glacial erratic, known as the Schwedenstein, is also located there.

Culture and History

Züsow is home to a thatched half-timbered house dating from the 18th century. A Low German hall house is also among the sights in Züsow.

Bäbelin has a Gothic village church, a brick and fieldstone building dating from the 15th century. The church originally had a fortified tower. The lower level of the western church tower was built from dressed granite. The western church tower has a brick-built belfry with four pointed-arch, stepped sound openings on its western side; geometric plaster panels and a frieze also adorn it.

The Bäbelin church stands in the center of the village on a small hill and is considered evidence of Mecklenburg’s settlement and ecclesiastical history.
