Culture

Groß Teetzleben is home to the village church of Groß Teetzleben, a half-timbered church built in 1721 with a three-sided eastern end. Its carved altar with a Baroque retable dates from around 1500. The altar shrine depicts a figurative Crucifixion scene, while scenes from the Passion are shown on its wings. The furnishings include a bell from 1569, as well as a wooden pulpit and a baptismal font from the second half of the 17th century.

The village church’s boarded west tower has a slender octagonal pointed roof. In 1739, additional panel paintings were added to the altar ensemble, including the Last Supper in the predella and the Ascension in the upper section. There are 17 panel paintings on the organ gallery and in the box pews.

Preservation

From 2015 to 2018, the village church of Groß Teetzleben underwent extensive renovation; the tower was excluded from the work. The organ was restored in 2021.
