The remains of Wolde Castle lie on a rise near Wolde called Burgberg. The castle complex presumably originated in the late 13th century. Wolde and Wolde Castle have Slavic origins; the settlement was first mentioned in documents in 1292, and the castle was destroyed in 1491.

Geographical location

Wolde is a municipality in the center of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, east of Stavenhagen, and belongs to the Treptower Tollensewinkel administrative area. The village is located on state road 273, approximately 14 kilometers west of Altentreptow and approximately 12 kilometers east of Stavenhagen. Federal road 104 runs south of the municipality; Wolde can be reached via the Altentreptow junction of the A20 motorway.
