Hvidovre Municipality combines coastal and meadow landscapes with protected nature, car-free paths, family activities and unusual historical sites. Cycling and Family Routes

The Nature Trail begins at Åmarken Station in the south and ends at Hvidovre Station in the north. The route is approximately 18 kilometres long and runs mostly along small cycle paths and gravel tracks with no car traffic. For planning your day, the clearly defined starting and ending points are therefore particularly relevant.

The Planet Trail is a small-scale astronomical family attraction. Along a route of just under six kilometres, the solar system stretches from the Sun on Bjerget to Pluto in Mågeparken. The route combines a journey through the landscape with an accessible astronomical theme.

Coast, Meadows and Wildlife

Kystagerparken is a protected area with numerous wild plants, seeds and flowers that provide the basis for a diverse animal life. Strandengen is a coastal and meadow area with grazing sheep and calves. Together, the two places give the surroundings a distinctly natural character.

Lodsparken includes a sandy beach and a bathing jetty. Based on the results of control samples from the previous year, the bathing water was classified as “excellent”. Rebæk Søpark also has a natural playground for children, making it possible to combine water, play and nature when planning your day.

Nature Experiences for Families

The Naturrum at Quark Naturcenter includes a permanent exhibition, suggested routes featuring local attractions, toilets and a covered outdoor dining area. Every year, Quark Naturcenter holds a summer market for Hvidovre residents and other interested visitors.

At Quark Naturcenter, children can visit Bakketop Trine, play in Trines Have, look for small animals and try nature activities. At Cirkusmuseet, Cirkusmuseet offers Cirkusleg every Sunday. Under the expert guidance of a professional circus artist, the whole family can try activities including juggling, tightrope walking and trapeze.

Historical Traces in Avedørelejren

At Historieporten in Avedørelejren, you can visit the old guard building and learn about a chapter of forgotten suburban history. The aircraft hangars at Avedøre Flyveplads are considered Denmark’s oldest aircraft hangars and distinctive, protected wooden structures dating from 1917.

The restored Officerspavillonen in Avedørelejren features preserved and cleaned ceiling paintings depicting scenes from Greek mythology. Bjerget is suitable for sledding and flying kites.
