Discover Glostrup: Nature Trails, Culture and Events

Nature and Trails in Glostrup

Glostrup offers a variety of landscapes and routes for visitors who enjoy spending their days outdoors. Vestskoven features hilly landscapes, large open areas, lakes and diverse wildlife. One fifth of Glostrup Municipality consists of this woodland area, which covers a total of 1,400 hectares.

Several trails make it easy to compare the different distances. The Hjertestien in Glostrup is laid out in the shape of a figure eight and combines a walking and running route with loops of 2.2 and 4.1 kilometres. The two loops can be combined into a 6.3-kilometre route. The Glostrup Art Route is approximately 16 kilometres long; shorter versions of 6 and 9 kilometres are also available. The Clover Trail consists of four themed routes of 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 17 kilometres that pass various sights.

In the fenced-off part of Vestskoven, Hundeskoven, Oxbjerget is one of the areas where dogs may be walked off the leash. Around 200 metres from the parking area on Oxbjergvej, there is a fire pit and a picnic shelter.

Ejby Mose with Nature Experiences

Ejby Mose is a mosaic of lakes, marshes and larger, partly open areas with grass, scrub and small woodlands. The area was inaugurated as a new recreational area in 1975. The Nature Adventure Trail in Ejby Mose consists of nine stations. The route is 1.5 kilometres long, takes approximately 45 minutes, and can be completed by everyone. Its starting point is at the scout hut near Ejby Hallen, Mosetoften 37, 2600 Glostrup.

Every year, Ejby Mose also hosts Naturens Dag. Grøn Guide organises the day together with local beekeepers, scouts, archers and the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. At this event, you can observe the marsh's fish up close. Fishing is permitted in Ejby Mose with a valid fishing licence.

Churches, Sculptures and Paintings

One of the notable cultural sites is Østervang Church. It was inaugurated on 19 April 1970 and was the first round church built in Denmark since the Middle Ages. The history of Glostrup Church reaches even further back: the church is medieval and was originally built from unworked and split fieldstone. Its oldest bell was cast in 1558 by bell founder Laurids Madsen; the younger bell dates from 1708 and was recast in 1848.

Eight of the nine bronze sculptures donated by the widow of the artist Anders Tinsbo stand in Byparken. Together, they form a small sculpture park. Glostrup Station also offers a cultural view of the town: the platform features 39 paintings depicting Glostrup's culture, nature and everyday life.

Stage, Film and Local Events

Glostrup Amatørscene has two stages at Leragergård. Glostrup Library hosts 6 to 8 children's theatre performances each year. Glostrup Bio shows a broad film programme with premiere films, 3D films and opera films, as well as concerts and other events. Glostrup Kulturhus also organises concerts at Glostrup Bio every year, featuring music from various genres as well as local and national bands.

Lun Lørdag is a seasonal series of events at Glostrup Fritidscenter. From September to April, it combines a concert, café and art exhibition on the first Saturday of the month, almost every month. Glostrup Kulturfest is a local event featuring music, theatre, art, street culture and community. Rådhusparken offers activities and experiences for children and adults as part of the event.
