Forest, Coast and Trails

From the car park at Vester Skerninge Præstegårdsskov, short, easily walkable paths lead through the forest down to the coast. The forest covers 3 hectares and was placed under protection on 23 February 1950. Here, a clearly defined natural area connects with a direct route from the car park through the forest to the coast.

Natural Areas and Marked Trails

Near Vester Skerninge, the Archipelago Trail continues via Stågerup Kohave and Mændenes Løkke with its rampart up to the Egebjerg Hills. A marked 4.5-kilometre section follows the Syltemade Ådal valley; it can be reached on foot from a small car park on Langegyde road. Syltemade Ådal has steep slopes, and the river follows its natural course there. You can follow the section of the Archipelago Trail from Fjællebroen via the Egebjerg Hills to Svendborg using the Geopark app.

Egebjerg Mølle Naturrum is open around the clock all year round and features exhibitions on the natural and cultural history of the surrounding area. Rødme Svinehaver is a protected area with species-rich vegetation created through centuries of grazing. Together with Syltemade Ådal and Præstegårdsskov, the landscape here ranges from forest and a natural river course to steep slopes and grazed vegetation.

Culture, Food and Fishing

Vester Skerninge Kro has been documented since 1772 as a meeting place for village residents and travellers on the main road through South Funen. Vester Skerninge Kro serves lunch and dinner, focusing on seasonal ingredients, classic inn dishes and local flavours from South Funen.

Blue Rock Fiskepark covers approximately 18 hectares and includes two lakes, a children's lake and a 1.5-kilometre fly-fishing stream. Its own fish farm stocks fish weighing between 1 and 9 kilograms several times a day. Blue Rock Fiskepark also has a log cabin with men's and women's toilets, a lounge, washing facilities, a fish-cleaning table, a refrigerator and freezer, as well as a barbecue.

Cycling Tour and Regional Orientation

On the 34-kilometre cycling tour “Med alle sansers brug” through the South Funen landscape, nature, culture and local stories come together. You can leave your bicycle at the historic Vester Skerninge Kirke. Regional Route 800A runs along the main road from Svendborg to Faaborg and passes through several places in the local Ollerup–Vester Skerninge area.

The different route lengths of 4.5 and 34 kilometres give you a clear sense of scale when planning on foot or by bicycle. This allows you to consider the short routes through the natural area and the longer cycling tour separately, without reducing the landscape to a single theme.
