Tåstrup: Farmsteads and Historic Traces

Tåstrup is a small cluster of farmsteads. In the municipal planning framework of Stevns, Tåstrup is designated as a cultural landscape area. Tåstrup itself is home to preserved structures such as the manure building at Druebjerggård and the farmhouse Trines Hus; historic oak posts were also found immediately outside the village. The buildings and finds are separated by considerable spans of time, ranging from rural daily life in earlier centuries to an event in 1944.

Preserved Structures and Early Finds

A brick-built manure building dating from around 1900 has been preserved and listed at Druebjerggård in Tåstrup. Its construction around 1900 places the building clearly later in time than the oak posts found immediately outside Tåstrup, which date from the Viking Age around 1,000 years ago. Its dating clearly distinguishes the structure from the much older posts and places it among Tåstrup’s more recent rural buildings.

Finely worked oak posts were found immediately outside Tåstrup around 1990. They date from the Viking Age around 1,000 years ago and were probably used to build a bridge across a body of water. The suspected bridge function gives the find a concrete connection to how wood and waterways were used at the time. The find therefore belongs to the older history of the area around the village, while Druebjerggård represents its more recent rural buildings.

Trines Hus in Tåstrup

Trines Hus is named after its former owner, Trine. One family has preserved the house in its original form for several generations. At the same time, Trines Hus is a listed farmhouse dating from 1775 in Tåstrup. Trines Hus thus brings together the name of a former owner, its preservation by the family and a clearly dated farmhouse.

Trines Hus features an authentic exhibition illustrating how ordinary people lived in the 19th century. The house has been opened to tourists and other interested visitors. Visits are possible from the Easter holidays to the autumn holidays and otherwise by appointment. Visitors can therefore see the house in its architectural form and in the context of daily life at the time.

An event from the 20th century is also part of the history of the surrounding area. Near Tåstrup, an American B-17 aircraft had to make an emergency landing on 11 April 1944, 900 metres southwest of Myrekær farm. It therefore belongs to a different period from Trines Hus and the Viking Age.

Cycling Through Tåstrup

The 25-kilometre “Elverhøj” cycle route runs through Tåstrup along Tåstrupvej. Its length gives the route a clear scope for day planning. At the same time, its geographical connection remains specific: Tåstrupvej runs through Tåstrup, where the farmsteads and historic buildings are located. The cycle route therefore stands as a separate activity alongside Druebjerggård, Trines Hus and the finds immediately outside the village. For cycle tourists, the route connects the village with Tåstrup’s historical themes.
