Discover Bobolice: Nature and Culture

In May, Bobolice reveals a special connection with nature: it is home to the northernmost site where globeflowers grow, their lemon-yellow to golden-yellow blossoms opening this month. The plant is legally protected. The 24-kilometre “Szlak Pełnika Europejskiego” (European Globeflower Trail) offers a different focus: it starts at globeflower meadows and leads to stone circles in the Bobolice Forest District. The Regional Museum and summer organ concerts complement the natural attractions with local history and music. Nature from Bloom to Trail

The “Szlak Pełnika Europejskiego” (European Globeflower Trail) starts at the globeflower meadows in Bobolice. From there, the 24-kilometre route passes through Ubiedrze and Kępiste, near the Wrzosowiec forest nursery, and continues to the stone circles in the Bobolice Forest District. The route’s length is a different planning consideration from the globeflower’s blooming month: it describes the entire route, while May indicates the seasonal connection with the flower’s bloom. Collections and Local History

The Muzeum Regionalne w Bobolicach displays some of its collections in permanent exhibitions comprising seven sections: archaeology, ethnography, a gallery, the history of Bobolice, military collections, prison art and natural history. There are also several themed areas. The arrangement of the exhibitions may change over time.

The museum collects, preserves and displays archaeological and military exhibits, tools and everyday objects from the pre-war period, as well as items brought by Polish settlers after the Second World War. It also collects documents relating to the history of Bobolice, the Bobolice area and Pomerania, along with coins, decorations, medals, works of folk and fine art, and natural history exhibits. Its thematic scope therefore ranges from the history of the town and its region to art, military history and natural history.

Summer Organ Concerts

Music also has a seasonal connection here: two organ concerts are held every summer at the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Bobolice as part of the Koszalin International Organ Festival. The globeflower bloom in May and the summer concert series mark different points in the year.
