Landscape and water

Moryń lies on the western shore of Lake Morzycko, which is located on the eastern edge of the town. The lakeshore is mostly wooded; wetlands lie near the inflow and outflow of the Słubia.

History and culture

Moryń developed as a medieval town around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. In the first half of the 14th century, the town was enclosed by stone defensive walls.

The former foundation established by Dr Christian Friedrich Koch in Moryń was founded in 1874 as a home for poor and orphaned children. A monument to the founder and the children stands in front of the building.
