Beach, Dunes and Nature

The beaches of Mrzezyno are wide and sandy. Together with the dunes and pine forests, they are part of the Natura 2000-protected Trzebiatów-Kołobrzeg coastal strip. The coast is therefore not just a place for swimming, but also a landscape of beaches, dunes and forests. The “Nadmorski Bór Bażynowy” nature reserve is nearby, west of Mrzezyno. It is characterized by wind-shaped landforms and crowberry. Visitors wishing to focus on nature as well as the beach can take these landscape features into account when choosing their destination.

There are also various options for active days: coastal cycling routes connect Mrzezyno with neighboring towns. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are listed among the water sports available at the beaches. Nearby, the Rega River is a popular route for canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding. Beaches, cycling routes and water activities offer different ways to plan a trip, without implying that they form a single continuous route.

Harbor and Maritime History

The harbor in Mrzezyno is intended for sea-going yachts and fishing boats. Excursion boats can also dock there; fishing trips for cod are offered from Mrzezyno on these boats. Flounder and turbot are sold directly from fishing boats at the landing stage. The town’s maritime character thus encompasses the harbor, fishing and boat excursions.

Two monuments commemorate different aspects of history by the sea. The “Wedding to the Sea” monument commemorates the first postwar Polish ceremony of that name, held in Mrzezyno on March 17, 1945. The Trzebiatów municipality holds annual commemorations at the monument, including a historical reenactment. The monument “Tym, którzy nie powrócili z morza” is dedicated to fishermen who lost their lives at sea while working: alongside the main monument, smaller blocks display the numbers of fishing boats and the names of the fishermen.

Church and Chata Rybaka

The Church of St. Peter and Paul was built between 1900 and 1912. Its features include glass mosaics by Prof. Henryk Burzec in the presbytery and stained-glass windows depicting “sea flowers,” made by Maria Powalisz-Bardońska of Poznań. Alongside the beach and harbor, these works of art offer a cultural point of interest during your stay.

The Chata Rybaka is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the town. It was probably built toward the end of the 18th century and renovated in the 1920s. Today, the restored building houses a restaurant where guests can sample local specialties. Mrzezyno’s smokehouses and fish fry shops also serve freshly prepared fish dishes.

There is also a promenade, referred to as “promenadę brwinowską.” Mrzezyno can therefore be explored through a range of interests: beaches and nature, the harbor and fishing, or the town’s history and architecture.
