The compact settlement of Rańsk stretches along the shore of Lake Rańskie. A stream flowing out of Lake Rańskie passes through Rańsk, feeds fish ponds in the village, and then continues towards Babięta Wielkie.

Geographical location

Rańsk is located in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Szczytno County and the Dźwierzuty Gmina, in the Masuria region. The village lies on Voivodeship Road 600, which runs between Mrągowo and Szczytno.

History

Rańsk was founded in 1496. The historic estates of Rańsk were named after Lake Rańskie.

Culture

The Lutheran church in Rańsk was built in 1827 and is now a branch church of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Szczytno. The historic church is a modest 19th-century Masurian sacred building with a rectangular floor plan, fieldstone foundations, white-plastered red-brick walls, and a shingle-covered gable roof.
