Miłuki is a locality and village situated on Lake Kalwa in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Szczytno County, and the Municipality of Pasym. Its lakeside location combines a clearly defined regional setting with a varied shoreline landscape.

Lakeside Location

Lake Kalwa is horseshoe-shaped and features numerous small bays and peninsulas, as well as eight islands. Its shoreline alternates between high, steep sections and flat, wet areas. The lake covers 562.2 hectares, is 6.05 kilometres long and 1.5 kilometres wide; its maximum depth is 31.7 metres.

Lake Kalwa borders National Road 53 between Szczytno and Olsztyn. The remaining shores can be reached from Pasym and Tylkowo via mostly paved roads.

The wider regional surroundings of Miłuki include Szczytno – Teutonic Castle, 14th century, and Dąbrowa. Olsztyn – 14th-century Castle, as well as Janusz Kusociński Park, are also located in this wider regional area.

History

Miłuki is documented in a land grant issued in 1379 by Grand Master Winrich von Kniprode; the document also records free fishing rights. In 1379, Grand Master Winrich von Kniprode granted Kiersztan and Oton of Olszyny land including Miłuki, as well as fishing rights.
